Basic Things to Know About Resume
When a company is looking for manpower, the first thing it demands from applicants is the resume. Likewise, when an applicant is hunting for a job, the first thing it provides recruiters is the resume.
Resume when defined is basically a compilation, either in soft copy or hard copy, of the applicant’s background, detailing his education, skills, accomplishments, and work experience. It is the fundamental selling tool of an applicant. It is the applicant’s primary weapon to interest the recruiter in inviting him for an interview.
The resume is the one that primarily introduces an applicant to prospective employers. The quality of a resume greatly affects the possibility of the applicant being hired or rejected for the position. Most employers take only less than a minute to go through a prospect’s resume. It is this obstacle that the aspirant must first pass for the resume to get on that “for interview” or “to consider” pile.
An effective resume should be brief and straight to the point. It should not be shorter than one page, but not longer than three pages. To achieve this, bullet lists are very vital. Another characteristic of a good resume is that it is tailored to fit the demands and qualifications of the job applying for. This does not mean that false data should be put in the resume. This means through information gathered by research of the organization, the applicant can match his training and experience to the demands of the company.
